In Japan things are different. He's working during the day and I'm taking over these mundane household tasks. After a week away our toilet was needing some extra TLC. Armed with my long scrubber and trusty bleach I got to work. These Japanese scrubbers have cleaner and pumice build together, making for a quick cleaning: brilliant! Finished with the gross bits, I noticed the top of the tank is a little dusty.
Sidenote: Japanese toilets are different than our back home. In addition to the privacy music, heated seats and various bottom cleaning spray options, they have this brilliant feature where upon flushing, as the clean water preps to fill up the back of the tank it flows out into a bowl at the top for washing hands- ingenious right?!?!
Dusting, dusting, dusting and then I slowly open the tank, prepared to disconnect any plumbing tubes I find. Hmm that's interesting, no pipes, the pieces just rest together. Interesting (and foreboding!) Realize this brilliance of plumbing also fosters a breeding environment for mold and slime. Not to worry- spray more bleach, scrub away. Ready to flush the cleaner down and see my beautiful slime free tank...
Thankful for my quick reflexes I stand back and laugh at the scene in front of me. That's a lot of water. Spraying BEHIND the toilet, not inside. Can I get the lid back on? Realize that I'm not adept enough to balance the heavy ceramic lid, line up the water spraying with the catching hole and maneuver it on successfully. So I take a different strategy and begin gathering towels.
